Historical Event on 11/1/1956
Indian Government re-organizes the states according to linguistic principles and inaugurates second Five-Year Plan. The states declared were Madhya Pradesh, Punjab by merging Patiala & PEPSU, Mumbai was divided in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. Union Territories namely Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshdeep Minikai and Amin Divi were approved.

5/20/1992	Third developmental launch of ASLV. Stretched Rohini Satellite Series (SROSS-C). Launched by third developmental flight of ASLV-D3. This carried Gamma Ray astronomy and aeronomy payload.
6/12/1999	Jalagam Vengal Rao, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, died in Hyderabad.
5/9/1995	Militants set Charar township on fire in the vicinity of the Charar-e-Sherif shrine. More than 1,000 houses burnt.
