7/25/1997Laloo Yadav resigns as Bihar Chief Minister after CBI-designated court issues an arrest warrant against him in fodder scam case. His wife, Rabri Devi, is sworn in as his successor. She becomes first woman Chief Minister of the State.
8/18/1993The Transport Development Council decides to abolish Pathkar (entry tax) and increase the fee for national permit from Rs. 1500 to Rs. 5000.
8/11/1908Khudiram Bose was hanged on this day in Central Jail at Mujaffarpur, Bihar at the age of 19 years. He along with Prafulla Chaki had planned to bomb the carriage supposed to be carrying Kingsford, unfortunately he was betrayed and was caught and finally was sentenced to death and hanged. This day is observed as ""Martyr's Day"" in memory of the great freedom fighter. Even today the soul stirring songs composed in his honour are sung by Bengali folk-singers.

5/7/1907The First Electric Tramway service commenced in Bombay (Mumbai). This service was inaugurated by Municipality Chairman Vallabhdas Thakersey and Municipal Commissioner Sheppard at 5.30 p.m. This tram was well decorated and destined from Municipal Office upto Crawford Market.
4/1/1954Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee became the first Indian to become the Air Officer Commanding, India Command. He was in this office till 08/Nov/1960.

During Gokhale Lajpat Rai's deputation to Britain, he appeals to Colonial statesmen to treat India ""an integral part of the Empire"" with consideration. Sanjeevan, weekly from Calcutta, also raised the motto to boycott British Goods.
